JEANNE MODIGLIANI (1918 - 1984)

Daughter of the famous sculptor and painter Amedeo Modigliani and the artist Jeanne Hébuterne, Jeanne Modigliani established herself as a singular figure in the 20th-century art world.
An accomplished art historian and biographer of her father (Modigliani: Man and Myth, 1958), she simultaneously pursued an intense personal artistic career.

Involved in the French Resistance and later settled in Italy, she developed a free and expressive body of work, characterized by gouaches, watercolors, and pastels with vibrant, abstract compositions. Her pieces, rare and imbued with a profound intellectual sensitivity, bear witness to a total artistic independence from her family legacy.
